The CrossFit Total is another classic CrossFit benchmark WOD. This is meant to be a comprehensive test of an athlete's functional strength (not power or endurance, just limit strength) encompassing a pull of the ground, a push with the legs, and a vertical push with the arms. All of our strength training in the month of January should have prepared us for PRs on this test.
Performing the CF Total leads us to wonder, "how do I compare to other people?" Well, luckily for us, someone else did the work of assembling that data in a handy little chart. This chart is from 2006, mind you, and the CrossFit world has expanded massively since then. Until someone does a follow-up study on this, we'll just assume that these averages are reasonably accurate for the larger CrossFit population. Simply find your bodyweight (or the nearest approximation) in the left-hand column and compare the totals in that row to your own in order to find out if you'd be considered "untrained", "novice", "intermediate", "advanced", or "elite".
