This workout was a lot like last Thursday's, except with handstands instead of pulling movements. We're getting some aerobic work in there, but the focus of the day was gymnastic skills tests. Are you able to kick up to a handstand in the middle of the floor and hold it? How long can you hold that handstand if you're feet are up against a wall? Can you walk across the room on your hands? What are your handstand push-ups looking like these days?
Lastly, we tested something that likely none of you have ever been exposed to: presses to handstand. This was originally supposed to be one of the basic skills of CrossFit, but has been largely neglected in the rapid growth of the fitness scene. 14 years ago, Greg Glassman famously outlined his definition of fitness in the CrossFit Journal under the tile World Class Fitness in 100 Words, including the inducement to, "master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds."
