On Monday, August 29, you will find TWO treadmills IN THE LOBBY in MV and 1 in SW! These treadmills will be available from 6 am-6 pm. For every consecutive mile run on these treadmills, we will donate $5 toward Community Action's Veterans Assistance Program. Members can sign up in the lobby on our sign up sheet. It's free to sign up! You can sign up in increments of 15 min. If you want to run for 2 hours - DO IT! If you want to come cheer on the runners - DO IT! Just sign up before all the slots are full! LET'S GO! We're excited to not only put yoga back onto the schedule, but we are also welcoming a new yoga instructor onto the team! Join her in class starting 8/15! Janna:Janna's introduction to yoga began 14 years ago. At the recommendation of her chiropractor, she started practicing 3 times a week and quickly became hooked! As yoga began to transform her life, Janna looked for ways to deepen her practice. In 2006 an instructor encouraged her to get certified and take over her class at a local studio. She obtained her Yoga Fit certification and began instructing. Janna began teaching gentle/yin yoga and progressed to an alignment-based Hatha-Vinyasa flow with an emphasis on conscious sequencing. Janna decided to further her education and completed her 200 hour RYS certification from Purna College of Yoga in Bellevue. She continues to spread her love and passion for yoga and all its benefits to everyone she encounters. Schedule effective 8/15:Personal Training Special!!!!

After reading it, we thought it would be something our members would love to read as well! I’d like to let you know a little bit more about what kind of massage I’m offering here at the club. I have been practicing massage for 7 years this month. I graduated from Whatcom Community College’s Massage Program in August of 2009. The program focus was mainly in injury treatment and recovery massage. My continuing education has been primarily focused on deep tissue massage. I have also taken a 36-hour course in Craniosacral Therapy, which is a very light form of massage that targets the brain, spinal cord and the neural connections throughout the body. In my massages I usually use a slow, deep pressure that allows the fascia to warm up and release adhesions and scar tissue, directly improving range of motion and muscle function. One of my specialties is identifying movement patterns that could be causing dysfunction, and suggesting simple ergonomic changes to daily activities that help reduce stress on the body. As many of you know, the body is very connected and pain in one area usually is caused by a compensation pattern or dysfunction in another area. My favorite part of massage is finding out how to not only help the area that is restricted, but also to find out the other areas that are contributing to the problem.
