I just went to our Zumba Gold class! I have taken this class in the past, but it has been a while so it was good to revisit it. It is offered every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:00am taught by Amy Holt.
This class is a great introduction to a regular Zumba class because it has simplified steps and slightly slower tempos. That is what makes it great for our active aging population as well. It also removes a lot of the twisting and shaking out of the movements so it is appropriate for people with knee or back issues. I mention this class to anyone who has a knee or back issue and currently participates in a regular Zumba class because it shows you appropriate modifications for 'regular' movement patterns. I have recommended people try this class so they know how to modify when they take the other classes.
Amy does a great job with her visual cues to let you know what is coming next. This class keeps the party lights and party atmosphere and occasionally encourages participants to dance with a partner- super fun! It is a great group of members who are very welcoming. There are also participants who take the movements at a higher intensity so it is a class that really works for everyone.
