Name
Melissa Doerge
Job Titles
Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Minor in Education from Washington State University. I worked for the Mount Vernon School District as a Teaching Assistant and Assistant Softball Coach. I specialized in working with children with special needs. In 1999, I became a Licensed Massage Therapist. A few years later I added Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Trainer Certifications.
About
I graduated from Mount Vernon High School and was on the Track and Cross Country Team. I was also a cheerleader. In 2015, after several years of not running I decided I would attempt to qualify for the Boston Marathon. I knew it would take the right mindset, a lot of time, some serious commitment, dedication, the support of my family, and hard and extremely physically demanding training above and beyond my level of comfort. I accomplished my goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon 6 times and running it. Maintaining a strong mindset and a confidence in the work and training that was completed by me leading up to the event was key to achieving that goal.
Work Philosophy
Move people to reach their fullest potential. Knowledge of how the body moves and functions with evidence-based exercise programs and nutrition. I value education, experience and continued learning to help my clients reach their fullest potential. Backed by evidence, I focus on educating clients and communicating in ways that can support their individual goals and exercise adherence. I am fully committed to each client, maintaining motivating energy, some playfulness and focus. I want my clients to know that it is about them and their needs. They should feel seen, heard, and respected. I meet where they are each day and never harder than necessary to support the unique identity of each client.
Ideal Client
Whether it be to relieve stress, lose weight, improve, and maintain health, adding muscle or toning, increased productivity, and enjoyment I just enjoy helping clients achieve their goals. I also enjoy training clients for physique and/or performance to compete at a higher level. As a Boston Marathoner and former track and cross-country runner I enjoy helping other aspiring runners reach their goals.
