History  Of  Riverside  Health  Club

Riverside Health Club opened in 1971 in Mount Vernon before gyms really became popular in the 1980’s
MV originally had a Grecian Health Spa theme throughout
Free weight gym was the original footprint
In 1990, the lobby, women’s locker room, women’s gym, racquetball were added.
In 1995, the pool and upstairs were added.
 
In 2000, Sedro-Woolley site opened.
 
In 2000 Denise Skelton purchased the club and the building went from Cobalt Blue to Sepia tones.
Karen Westra joined the team in 2003, becoming a co-owner in 2004.
In 2017 Beth Baeslack and Theresa Butcher joined the ownership team.
Riverside Health Club is now co-owned equally by Denise, Karen, Beth, and Theresa.
 
In 2018 Riverside Health Club did a full overhaul of the logo and brand, including a building remodel and repainting of the outside.
 
In 2021 Sedro-Woolley went to a 24/7 model.
 
 
 

Riverside  Red

We've been here since 1971 and we're not going anywhere.
We needed a logo that spoke to the forward motion, the longevity, the sophistication 
​of the modern company that we always have been and always will be.
​
From there, we created Riverside Red. 

Why Red

​Red represents the heart we have for our members – motivating us to provide spaces for anyone who desires to push their body to its limit or those who want to refresh and restore.

Why A Circ le

The circle represents the importance of community as you find opportunities for support and friendship. It is exemplified by well-rounded, holistic programming that offers something for everyone and a facility that calls you home.  We believe that in fitness, the work is never done.

The fitness business is always evolving and requires that we constantly move with trends and the times.  We are going to continue doing what we’ve always done - have the best people help us serve our members in their pursuit of health and fitness, provide the best trainers, the best teachers, the best classes, the best equipment, in a great facility where everyone welcomes everyone who walks through our doors and where we all call home. This is our commitment. We are going to stay relevant, we are going to stay flexible and adapt.  We are going to continue to upgrade and we are going to continue to care for people and make Skagit County as healthy as we can. We are unique in the friendships that develop here and the community that is formed.  We are unique in the well- rounded, holistic programming that offers something for everyone.
