Where  In  THE  WORLD  DID  NIC  GO?
​

If you workout at our Mount Vernon location, you know Nic. You also probably noticed that you haven't seen him in a while - until now! Nic went on a trip for one month and came back in better shape than when he left thanks to his commitment to following through on his Individual Design program. He got creative and he made it happen!

AN  INTERVIEW  WITH  THE  MAN  HIMSELF

​"While I was away on my trip, I managed to stick to my DIY plan 100% using FitBot and locating gyms/training locales in Kenya and Ethiopia. I found gyms on rooftops, in shopping malls, and in back alleyways. I brought some of my own equipment.  I trained at soccer fields and beaches. I even hung my gymnastic rings from a billboard on the side of the highway! 
 
I trained everyday unless I was on a transcontinental airplane that day.  I have some photos I could share as well. I managed to come home leaner and more muscular than when I left." -Nic

WHO WENT ON YOUR TRIP?
"It was myself, my wife Chelly, our 7 year-old son Javan, and our 1 year-old son Nathan."

WHERE DID YOU GO?
"We went to Mombasa, Kenya to visit family, we also visited Nairobi, Kenya, and I took a side trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia."

WHY DID YOU GO?
"We went to introduce our 1 year-old to all his relatives, attend a memorial service for my wife's grandmother, and hang out at the beach."

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO STAY ON YOUR INDIVIDUAL DESIGN PROGRAM?
"I am motivated by my fitness goals and I didn't want to lose my routines or lose progress on this trip, I also didn't want the shake-up of stopping and starting again when I get back.  I used the I.D. program to keep myself on track and moving towards my goals." 

WHAT WAS THE MOST INTERESTING THING YOU SAW OR LEARNED AT ANOTHER GYM?
"I saw a chicken walking around a bodybuilding gym where everything was made of truck axles and gears.  That was pretty interesting.  I also saw a top-notch gym in Nairobi that was entirely mobile and could be packed up in a day like a military outpost, with a great smoothie bar and nutritious post-workout snacks.  The roof-top gym in Mombasa also runs outdoor excursions and has a biometric access system (members have to scan their thumbprint to get in the door, if they don't pay on time then it won't open).  Cool stuff."
